Abstract

Alkaline phosphatase (ALP), an enzyme for the hydrolysis of phosphate monoesters, has bee found to be polymorphic in some insects (Beckman &Johnson, 1964; Schniederman, 1967; Wallis & Fox, 1968; Eguchi, 1975; Demayo et al., 1989). It was reported to be monomorphic in Apis mellifera (Sylvester, 1986), but has not been studied in A. cerana.
